what other cool things can you do with kumquats? my housemates dumpstered some a long time ago, and we all just sat around with sour faces trying to eat them straight-out. gross.

they are notoriously ‘inedible’! as well as the marmalade, cumquat brandy is a pretty popular use for cumquats. my partner’s grandfather makes cumquat liqueur, which involves placing vodka, sugar & cumquats (pricked with a fork) into a large glass bottle & leaving it to infuse for a few months (kind of like limoncello). once it’s infused, he removes the fruit, de-stones it & covers it in chocolate to make alcoholic cumquat chocolates!! also, i came across a chocolate, almond & cumquat cake recipe the other day, where the cumquats were candied & placed on top of the cake & the candied liquid was using in the cake… so, i guess the main way to eat cumquats is with a load of sugar!
